Read How I Lost 45 Pounds with two simple steps

With the majority of population in the UK, fighting against obesity and weight, the high demand of slimming diet pills is justified. The modern day luxuries and comforts available in today’s time and the fast food culture have ruined the health of many people. Obesity carries more threat then most other health problems and lifestyle habits as recent surveys suggest more people die due to obesity than smoking.

Before going for weight loss plans you must know:

What type of medicine is it?
How does your medicine work?
What are side effects of these medicines?
Do these medicines suit your lifestyle?

What type of medicine is it?

Only two anti-obesity medications are currently approved by the FDA for long term use. One is sibutramine and the other is orlistat. Sibutramine (Reductil) and orlistat (Xenical) are prescription only medications. There are many other less commonly used medicines available on market. These medicines are not approved for use and not recommended due to their potential side effects.

Your anti-obesity pill can be one of two types. One is fat inhibitor and the other is appetite suppressant. Doctors prescribe you a medication only when your body mass index is 30 or above. Also there are many health risks and conditions taken into account by a doctor before they prescribe any medication.

How does a fat inhibitor and appetite suppressant medication work?

Appetite suppressants work by acting on the satiety center of the brain, known as hypothalamus. They increase the amount of serotonin, noradrenaline, norepinephrine and dopamine chemicals in the brain which affects the hypothalamus and gives you feeling of fulfillment that you get after eating and makes you feel satisfied with less food, therefore decreasing appetite.

Fat inhibitors work by reducing intestinal fat absorption by inhibiting pancreatic lipase. When you take food, lipases attach themselves to the fat within the digestive system and help to digest the fat but when fat inhibitor is taken many of these lipases are blocked, which prevents the breakdown of fat in your body.

What are the side effects of weight loss pills?

Side effects of appetite suppressants are: Constipation, dry mouth and problems sleeping, but these side effects disappear after a few days of using appetite suppressants. Side effects of fat inhibitors are: Oily stools, flatulence and frequent bowel movements.

Which medication suits your life style?

Generally people who cannot control their calories and take high calorie meal and suffer from obesity are advised to take appetite suppressants like Reductil which contains sibutramine as its main ingredient. Reductil (sibutramine) works faster and it is more effective then other medications available for weight loss. Fat inhibitors are also good but some of their side effects make it difficult to go to work or do normal physical activities that you do in your daily life. Here we recommend consulting your health care provider before taking any prescription drug, because your doctor can suggest better treatment for you.
